Visually stunning movie that's ultimately forgettable due to its underdeveloped characters and disjointed plot

## The Movie
### The Soundtrack
Scarlet's soundtrack is alright, with some tracks that are pretty good, but overall it doesn't leave a lasting impression. The music serves its purpose in the film, but it's not something that stands out or is memorable on its own. To me, the main highlights come from the first track I embedded. It honestly came out of nowhere, and I was pleasantly surprised by how much I enjoyed it. The whole sequence was really well done and unexpected, and the music played a big part in that. The second track I embedded is also pretty good, but it was only played during the credits, so it didn't have the same impact as the first one. Overall, while the soundtrack is decent, it's not something that I would go out of my way to listen to again.
### Thoughts
Scarlet is a movie that's supposed to be the retelling of the classic tale of Hamlet, now written in the context of the modern psyche. At least, that's what it sets out to do. The plot is all over the place, and a lot of things just happen for the sake of the story. That's not the worst thing for a story to be, per se, but it does make it hard to follow. The movie, with its message, desperately needed more depth to the characters and the setting. Without it, it just seemed like the whole thing was a metaphor of some sort.
The movie is visually stunning, with some really great cinematography and animation. The action scenes are well done, and the overall aesthetic is pretty cool. I really enjoyed the usage of both 3D and 2D art. However, the story just doesn't hold up. The characters are underdeveloped, and the plot is all over the place. It feels like the movie is trying to say something profound about the classic tale of revenge, but it doesn't really succeed in doing so. Despite there also being some good, if not excellent moments, the overall impact is lost. In the end, I'm not even sure there even is a deeper moral message other than "revenge is bad". That on its own wouldn't be a bad message, but the story itself doesn't even justify it. The movie just feels like a missed opportunity to tell a compelling story with interesting characters and themes. Instead, it just feels like a visually impressive but ultimately forgettable retelling of Hamlet.
Overall, I would say that Scarlet is a movie that's worth watching for the visuals and the action scenes, but don't expect it to be a deep or meaningful story. It's a Mid-Gem at best, and while I enjoyed it, I don't think it's something that will stick with me for a long time. If you're a fan of anime and are looking for something visually impressive, then you might want to give it a watch. But if you're looking for a compelling story with interesting characters and themes, then you might want to look elsewhere.
